The large rubber roller on most antique machines can be rock hard, It is advised to have the platen resurfaced if the machine will be used frequently. This greatly enhances the quality of the type, and reduces wear on the typeslugs.
This machine is quite nice underneath the grime. The case is busted but can be sent with the machine if so desired.
