The large rubber roller on most antique machines can be rock hard, It is advised to have the platen resurfaced if the machine will be used frequently. This greatly enhances the quality of the type, and reduces wear on the typeslugs.
This machine is in good condition except the fairly well-known Continental problem. Due to deteriorated metal inside the machine, some of the typebars stick up a little. This issue can't be fixed, but the machine is still very much usable.
